It all started when a talented young man named Chandler Grey Dillard and two friends started doing show cards while in the Navy stationed in Hawaii. When the three got out of the Navy they brought their talents home to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and opened “Modern Art Sign Company”. Eventually, the two friends left the company and Mr. Dillard started making neon on he's own. He changed the name to "Art Sign Company" as we know it today.
After many years of hustling and building the company to support his family, Mr. Dillard taught the trade to his two sons, Joe and Dan. The two would regularly fabricate and install the creations of Art Sign Company. Eventually Dan would leave the company to pursue other avenues, but Joe helped run the company until Chandler Dillard passed away, at which time Joe Dillard took over the company.
It was in the 1980’s when the company really expanded, from a single building to a second right across the street that's five times the size of the original. Slowly over the years with more large corporate accounts, the company continued to grow. With the help of the third generation Dillard; daughter Shari in charge of operations, while Joe enjoys retirement and visits every day...old habits are hard to break!
In our current configuration we are housed in four buildings. We have two paint booths and one building dedicated to fabrication of large pylons, monument and cabinet signs. Our neon plant currently has a full-time tube bender with decades of experience. The second building houses our sales staff and graphics department. Another building houses our art production team & channel letter department. We also have a full-time mechanic with a dedicated workshop to support our ever-growing fleet of vehicles.
